Abstract

A series of organic sensitizers based on thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6-dione (FNE38-FNE40) were designed and synthesized through incorporating varied alkyl chain into the pyrrole ring for dye-sensitized solar cells. A high solar-to-electricity conversion efficiency of 6.16% was achieved for the quasi-solid-state device based on sensitizer FNE40 with a branched alkyl chain.
