Development of Highly-Reflective Coatings based on Sol-Gel Technology for Megajoule-class Lasers

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

In large aperture solid state laser for fusion research like the Laser MegaJoule (LMJ) or the National Ignition Facility (NIF), optical components have to fulfil drastic specifications in terms of reflexion/transmission coefficient, surface roughness, wavefront distortion and laser-induced damage resistance. These optical properties must be satisfied in a pre-defined environment (temperature and humidity are fixed) and must be constant during all the component lifetime.
