Gas Filled Photonic Crystal Fiber Lasers

Abstract

The recent demonstration of lasing based on population inversion in gas filled photonic crystal fibers opens up new wavelength regions for fiber lasers. The gaseous active medium mitigates some of the power limiting factors of lasers based on solid core fibers.
