Abstract

A fiber-coupled pyrometer was used to monitor the temperature and brightness of the flame in an industrial copper smelter and in a lab-scale drop tower. Optical emission spectroscopy is used to analyze the light emitted from combusting ore particles in the furnace reaction shaft.
