Development of an Optical Fiber Probe for Real Time, Intraoperative Detection of Cancer

Abstract

We report on the development of a tool for intraoperative cancer margin assessment using an optical fiber sensor that examines the pH of the tissue surface, and can discriminate between healthy and cancerous tissue.
