Abstract

New algorithms have been developed for inverting remote sensing data obtained with multi-angle lidars. In contrast to standard algorithms for finding the range-dependent atmospheric extinction coefficient, the new algorithms are based on finding the range-dependent atmospheric transmittance. Great simplifications result from this new approach, and it enables the retrieval of altitude profiles of other atmospheric parameters.
