Abstract
We combined two fiber-optic techniques to permit real-time monitoring of machinery fluids. Excitation emission matrix spectroscopy and fiber-loop cavity ring-down absorption spectroscopy were used to characterize jet fuel and aero-turbine lubrication oil. Two multivariate analysis techniques, i.e. Parallel Factor Analysis (PARAFAC) and Principal Component Analysis and Regression (PCA\PCR), were applied on the EEM data to assess the contamination and degradation level.
