Coverage Analysis for Centralized Optical Beamforming Based mmWave Cloud-RAN Systems

Abstract

A centralized optical beamforming scheme, only requiring less than half of the beamforming resources, is proposed for 5G millimeter-wave cloud radio access networks. Stochastic geometry-based coverage analysis shows that the proposed scheme achieves near-optimal performance.
