Stokes vector direct detection using a spin-dependent grating

Abstract

We demonstrate a spin-dependent liquid crystal grating to detect the polarization states of light. We achieved Stokes vector direct detection of QPSK, 8PSK and 16QAM signals with 16G, 8G and 4G baud data rates.
