Abstract

Light-matter interactions are greatly intensified in plasmonic nanostructures, giving rise to strong nonlinear optical response that is promising for applications in different photonic devices. We discuss here the recent advances in the use of solution processed metal oxide plasmonic nanoparticles for ultrafast optical switches to drive pulse laser generation in fiber lasers operating in the near infrared and mid-infrared spectral region.
