Abstract
The distributed sub-tree (DST) scheme provides a promising approach to serve emerging multicast demands. Considering the failure probability of each fiber link, each sub-tree must satisfy the required failure probability constraints of a multicast demand. A novel link importance incorporated failure probability measuring solution (LIFPMS) has been designed to provide an accurate metric for calculating the failure probability of a multicast light-tree. However, how to construct multiple distributed sub-trees for a multicast demand with failure probability constraints becomes an important research focus. In this paper, a survivable distributed sub-tree with failure probability constraints (DST-FPC) scheme is proposed. A heuristic modulation-level–aware approach is developed to realize the DST-FPC scheme. The DST-FPC scheme can be applied to data center network and passive optical network (PON). Simulations show that the DST-FPC scheme can greatly enhance the survivability of these networks with high spectrum efficiency.
