Abstract

The research of RF filters with the capabilities of bandwidth reconfigurability and frequency tunablity above GHz range is increasingly important in high-speed communications and wideband radar systems. In this paper, a novel microwave photonic filter(MPF) based on tunable ultra-sharp roll-off optical filter with above a dozen of GHz bandwidth reconfigurable and frequency tunable range is proposed. The proposed MPF is also precise reconfigurable and tunable with dozens of MHz resolution. The key parts of the method are composed of passive devices, which have simpler structures and more stable and reliable performance. The paper provides a practical approach to realize a simple and flexible MPF.
