Abstract
Empowered by network function virtualization (NFY) technology, virtual middlebox can support a constitution of the dynamic service chain. On the other hand, in the IP over WDM network, a virtual topology can be reconfigured according to the network traffic distribution. Combining the above two technologies can improve the network flexibility and reduce network operational costs. In this work, we will study the network optimization problem for the virtual network function(VNF) placement for service chaning in IP over WDM networks. A path based Integer Linear Progammering(ILP) model is proposed for minimizing the network energy consumption. Simulation Results show that combining optimizations of the virtual optical topology configuration and YNF deployment can significantly reduce the network energy consumption.
