Abstract
As a multi-functional optical passive device, fiber Bragg grating has many advantages, such as electrical insulation, anti-electromagnetic interference, corrosion resistance, high sensitivity and small volume, which has a wide range of applications in the sensing field. In this paper, the feature of fiber Bragg grating temperature sensors in the harsh environment are discussed and we developed a new type of FBG temperature sensor for aerospace application. As a result of there is no convection in the vacuum, we designed a new type of package to improve the heat conduction speed of the sensor. In our design, we mixed quartz powder and modified resin as fillers and adhesive in the package to ensure the stability of the sensor in vacuum. Experiments show that the sensor developed by us has faster response speed (<3.3s) and could reach temperature resolution of 0.095 °C. Our FBG temperature sensor is optimized for vacuum harsh environment and has a bright prospect in the field of aerospace applications.
