Abstract
A low-threshold random fiber laser based on an array of weak-reflectivity chirped-fiber Bragg gratings (CFBGs) written in a 5-m-long erbium-doped fiber incorporating with a wavelength-matched high-reflectivity CFBG in a half-open cavity is demonstrated. Pumped with a 980 nm laser, typical random laser radiation is obtained with low threshold power of only 4.3 mW and a slope efficiency of 11.2%.
