Abstract

The luminescence characteristics of PbS semiconductor in silica optical fiber are investigated. The luminescence spectrum covers a bandwith of 1100-1350 nm. And its luminescence intensity is related to pump power and fiber length. In addition, there are obvious absorption peaks at 1022 and 650 nm bands, whose corresponding average sizes and effective band gap are 4.32 nm and 1.21 eV, 2.65 nm and 1.91 eV, respectively.
