Reducing the RF linewidth and timing jitter of a mode-locked semiconductor laser using optical feedback scheme

Abstract

An optical feedback scheme is proposed and demonstrated to reduce the phase noise of a passive mode-locked laser diode. A minimum RF linewidth of 354 Hz and timing jitter of 220 fs is obtained.
