Abstract

We investigate theoretical limit of coherent optical receiver with liquid nitrogen cooling to reduce thermal noise with extremely high sensitivity requirement. The transmission reach is increased by 4-km for unamplified PDM-QPSK/ PDM-16QAM at 28-GBaud.
