Power Excursion Reduction in Flex-Grid Optical Networks with Symbol Rate Adaptation

Abstract

In this work, we propose a new use case of symbol rate adaptation in Flex-Grid optical networks. We demonstrate that symbol rate optimization of variable rate transponders can mitigate optical power excursion after spectrum defragmentation.
