Active fiber devices enabled by graphene’s photothermal effect effect

Abstract

By integrating graphene with microfibers, we demonstrate all-optically controlled phase shifters and fiber Bragg gratings with the assistance of graphene’s photothermal effect. Optical switching and bistability are achieved as well with response times of milliseconds.
