Low Phase Noise Quantum Dot Lasers for Coherent Communication Networks

Abstract

Quantum dot lasers are demonstrated to exhibit low phase noises. A low gain compression factor and a large state energy separation are favorable to reduce the phase noise, while carrier scattering rates has little impact.
