Abstract

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment modality that utilizes light to activate photosensitizer (PS) to destroy malignant and nonmalignant diseases. We present the emerging strategies, including synergistic therapeutics and the utilization of multifunctional nano-based PSs for enhanced PDT, and the future perspectives of PDT protocols will be brief discussed.
