Abstract

We present highly sensitive ultrasound detection by use of a single mode fiber grating laser with a diameter of 66 μm, by measuring the variation of beat frequency between the two orthogonal polarization lasing modes. Based on the phase-locked loop demodulation, a noise-equivalent pressure (NEP) as low as 138 Pa over 100 MHz has been achieved.
