An 86 km direct detection POTDR with co-pumping 2nd Raman amplification based on random fiber lasing

Abstract

An 86 km long POTDR system with 20m spatial resolution has been experimentally demonstrated with direct detection. Co-pumping 2nd Raman amplification based on random fiber lasing is used to amplify the pulsed probe along the fiber, significantly extends sensing distance.
