Abstract

We propose a novel large-scale OXC architecture that utilizes intra-mode optical cross-connect sub-elements and inter-mode switching bridges. We show by simulation that the proposed OXC architecture attains significant hardware scale reduction and similar blocking performance to the one-dimensional fully-connected OXC.
