Multicore Fiber for Space Division Multiplexing

Abstract

Multicore fibers (MCFs) are expected as a good candidate for overcoming the capacity limit of current optical communication system. In this tutorial, technical challenges and prospect of uncoupled MCFs for space-division multiplexing (SDM) are presented.
