Abstract

The multi-level modulation of PAM-4 signal using the carrier-depletion based silicon MZI modulator is demonstrated. A 40 Gb/s (4×10 Gb/s) optical transmission over 150 km SSMF is achieved with comparable performance with the commercial LiNbO3 modulator.
