Abstract

We investigate the optical multi-stability in fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) and its application to all-optical regeneration of multi-level PAM signals by taking the circularly-polarized waves into account. Numerical calculation shows that the degraded 4PAM signals can be improved if the input amplitudes are located at the multi-stable levels.
