Superoxide flashes dominate mitochondrial lesion stimulated by femtosecond laser

Abstract

Multiphoton excitation of femtosecond laser can induce reactive oxygen species bursts in single mitochondrion. Coordinating with mitochondrial permeability transition pores, such oxide bursts can activate the temperate/permanent mitochondrial lesion.
