Abstract

Intra-cavity ASE-noise is demonstrated to be the key factor of DS pulse stability in normal-dispersion fiber laser. Excessive ASE-noise can make DS become noise-like pulse like overlarge nonlinearity does, even when the nonlinearity is appropriated.
