Abstract

By utilizing chirp managed laser (CML) technology to improve the direct modulation performance of deep-submicron slotted single mode FP laser, a dispersion penalty of only 0.4 dB after 100 km SSMF is achieved. The back-to-back penalty is only 1.8 dB compared to a zero chirp LiNbO3 MZ transmitter.
