Abstract

We review recent works on optical signal processing for multi-level modulation formats using degenerate and non-degenerate four-wave mixing in highly nonlinear fibers. Data exchange, optical computing (quaternary/octal/hexadecimal addition and subtraction), and hexadecimal coding/decoding are demonstrated.
