Impact of Constant Linear Mode Coupling on the Nonlinear Transmission Performance of Few-mode Fibers

Abstract

We present a nonlinear propagation model for the few-mode fiber based transmission systems. Simulation results show that for 16QAM-CO-OFDM over 10×100km bi-modal fiber link, the Q factor can be improved by 5.3dB (DMD = 1ns/km).
