Abstract

A high sensitive and low distortion amplification design was carried out in the uplink of the WiMAX Radio-over-Fiber PON that was configured with a 1:8 splitter and a 30km-SMF. The EDFA gain compensates the optical loss of the optical components and SMF. The gain of the LNA of the PIN-PD is not high so that the LNA output power does not exceed −15dBm. The gain of the LNA of the DFB-LD driver is higher than the difference between the input power and 20dBm. We achieved a low Relative constellation error (RCE) of −25dB at the input modulation power of −60dBm. An estimation of the power diagram to achieve −80dBm sensitivity with 60km SMF was carried out.
