Abstract

For interconnects in servers, routers, storage systems, or even home entertainment systems, optical technology competes head on with traditional copper based technology. This imposes very different requirements to the optical solution compared to the telecommunication applications. Design concepts used to achieve power figures down to 3 mW/Gbps will be discussed.
