Abstract

A monolithic semiconductor laser based on waveguide echelle grating is proposed for mode-hop-free wavelength tuning. By properly designing the shape of the tuning section, a mode-hop-free tuning range of 3.6nm is achieved within a tuning current range of 300mA.
