The retinal input during fixation: Binocular head/eye coordination at the fine scale

Abstract

In the periods between voluntary gaze shifts, the eyes continually drift following erratic trajectories. We report that these movements compensate for microscopic head movements to yield visual signals with specific characteristics on the retina.
