Abstract
By the introduction of high-doping ions, the upconversion fluorescence of ions was reduced, and the energy-transfer efficiency from to ions was enhanced significantly in crystals. End pumped by a diode laser at in a hemispherical cavity, a quasi-cw laser at with slope efficiency of 19% and absorbed pump threshold of was achieved in a -thick c-cut crystal. The results show that the crystal with high-doping ions is a potential gain medium for a low-threshold laser.
